Structure and operating principle The device mechanically contacts the test surface at three points (two points on the wheel and one point on the pencil lead), and the pencil is always held at a 45° angle to the surface being tested. Pencil preparation: Take a pencil and sharpen 5-6 mm of lead (do not loosen it). Hold the lead by the tip and hold it at a 90° angle on "NO: 400" sandpaper. Then, draw on the sandpaper and rub the end of the lead with a flat end until it is sharp (there should be no nicks or gaps on the end). Rotate the pencil 180° after each use or resharpen it before use. 2. Operation: Place the device on a flat work surface, place the pad on the bottom of the device, insert the pencil into the hole in the device body, and secure the end of the pencil to the work surface with a screw. 3. Measurement: Place the pencil hardness tester on the board and move forward at a speed of approximately 1 mm per second. Starting with the hardest pencil, each pencil level will plow five marks of 3 mm length until you find a pencil that does not plow through the paint film. The hardness of the pencil represents the core of the measured paint film.
