After their victory over Germany, Red Army infantrymen engaged in plundering within Germany, but Red Army political officers, intent on maintaining discipline, strictly prohibited this.
However, they also organized "Loot Units" in their rear-line units and had them collect over 2.5 million paintings, sculptures, and other artworks from museums and art galleries across Germany.
While some of these were returned after the war, 40% remain unreturned.
This set recreates a unit that specialized in collecting such artworks, making it an extremely well-constructed figure set.
This large set combines "DD35163" through "DD35169," but perhaps better conveys the story.
