Art Model "1/72 Scale Russian Sukhoi Su-39 Grac Ground Attack Aircraft" Plastic Model Kit.
The Su-39 is an advanced version of the Su-25. In January 1986, the Soviet Military Industrial Committee decided to begin development of the all-weather Su-25TM, based on the Su-25T.
The Su-25TM features a sophisticated targeting system, including the Leninets Kinzhal millimeter-wave radar pod and the Tskb Geofizika Kokhot FLIR pod.
In 1996, it was given the official designation Su-39.
Due to high production costs, no further production was carried out, and the Russian Air Force shifted its focus to procuring the Su-25SM, an upgraded version of the Su-25T, backfitted with technology developed for the Su-25TM and TM.
The aircraft structure is the same as the Su-25T, but there have been some changes to the avionics system, with the most notable being the addition of the N027 Kopyo-25 radar pod.
The Kopyo could detect air targets at a range of 70km when looking down and tracking from the front, 35km when looking down and tracking from the rear, maritime targets at 75km, and armored vehicle convoys at a range of 25-30km. It could track 10 targets simultaneously and attack two of them simultaneously.
The navigation and fire control system is equipped with the SUV-25TM Voskhod, an improved version of the Su-25T's SUV-25T Voskhod, which includes A-737 navigation equipment and the I-251M Shkval-M.
The A-737 is compatible with satellite navigation using GPS and GLONASS, allowing automatic target acquisition with a positioning accuracy of up to 15m.
The Shkval-M utilizes the Su-25TM's navigation and radar to enable automatic search in scan mode, detect ground threats, and target Krasnopol laser-guided artillery shells.
The radar allows it to operate with the R-77, R-27R/ER, Kh-31A, and Kh-35U.
