Description
In 1983, Casio introduced the shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch. This product shattered the notion that watches were fragile jewelry that needed to be handled with care, and Casio engineers took on the challenge of creating the world's toughest timepiece. Featuring a triple-protection design for components, modules, and the case, G-SHOCK offered a radical new type of watch that was impervious to strong shocks and vibrations. Its practicality was quickly recognized, and its unique design, embodying its functionality, became a huge hit, leading to explosive sales in the early 1990s. G-SHOCK soon adopted a variety of new sensors, solar-powered radio wave technology (explained below), and new materials for even greater durability. By always adopting the latest technology and continuing to transcend traditional notions of what a watch should be, the G-SHOCK brand has become Casio's flagship watch product.
