HUTAN" is a card drafting and tile placement game in which you develop a tropical rainforest and create a habitat for various animals.
To improve their own rainforest, players take turns drafting cards from a shared marketplace.
To improve their own rainforest, players must place the flower combinations listed on the cards on their board, which is divided into several areas and has a grid of squares.
Flowers must be placed adjacent to or overlapping existing flowers to create a contiguous area.
When an area is filled with flowers of the same color, the area is "complete" and points are awarded at the end of the game.
Empty "incomplete" areas and "mixed" areas containing flowers of different colors incur negative points, so players must choose cards and place flowers carefully.
When flowers of the same color overlap, a tree is placed on top instead of a flower, and the tree also earns points.
Furthermore, when all squares are filled with flowers of the same color and trees, the area is considered a "complete habitat," attracting animals corresponding to the flower color and helping the rainforest to grow.
The player with the most points at the end of nine rounds is the winner, but the conditions for scoring are quite difficult and varied, so
despite the simple system, players will need to plan their placement carefully to win.
In addition, there is a Family Game version that simplifies the conditions, an Advanced Game that introduces "Ecosystem Cards" that provide additional points,
and solo play rules and various achievement challenges are available, making this a visually stunning board game with great play value and a wide variety of gameplay options.
