The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star was once the official NBA game shoe, composed of a rubber sole and canvas upper. Introduced in 1949, it quickly became a popular basketball shoe within the industry, and its design remains unchanged to this day. At the time, basketball player Chuck Taylor joined the basketball team sponsored by Converse and helped market and sell the All Star; he also contributed improvements to the shoe’s design. Later, Converse decided to add Chuck Taylor’s name to the shoe.
