Product Introduction
The 5,500-ton light cruiser "Kuma," featuring a striking vertically-laid linoleum deck, is now available in a new molded, bottom-mounted style!
This product features a snap-fit design that eliminates the need for adhesive, setting it apart from previous kits.
The assembly method is entirely snap-fit, and parts can be separated at the waterline to create both surface and full-hull versions (excluding bonus parts).
●The product motif depicts the ship's appearance before the strengthening of anti-aircraft armaments in the second half of 1942.
- While standard ships feature horizontally-laid linoleum decks, the Kuma's unique vertically-laid linoleum is reproduced with dedicated parts.
-The hull is specifically designed for the Kuma, depicting the ship in its early wartime state before the portholes were closed. It is a separate part from the Tama.
-Due to records of the ship's docking at the Kure Naval Arsenal in August and September 1942, the main warship's color scheme is modeled after the relatively bright "Kure Arsenal color."
★Bow
The anchor chain deck's steel plate/strip (anti-slip) surface is meticulously sculpted to recreate the differences.
The outboard electrical wiring is depicted with just the right height and definition to enhance the model's appeal.
★Main gun
There are two types of shield canopy: one with a knuckle (folded corner) and one without, but the Kuma model features a knuckle.
★Bridge
Even the finer details, such as the support pillars below the lookout posts on the sides of the bridge, are recreated in three dimensions, improving precision after completion.
★Torpedo armament
Both the front and rear torpedo tubes can be rotated (ready to fire).
★Center
The armor thickness and three-dimensional shape of the rivets are accurately recreated, particularly in the center of the ship's sides.
The funnel is recreated using a Kuma-exclusive part with an early-type rainwater removal device (with a distorted shape that bulges at the top).
The davit at the rear of the port side is recreated as it was before being replaced with a larger one.
The catapult is a newly designed part based on the Type 2 Type 3 launcher used during wartime.
The floatplane is a newly designed part based on the Type 94 Type 2 reconnaissance seaplane. The three-piece structure recreates the large floatplane carrier-based aircraft.
★Aft/Stern
The aft shelter deck is designed with precise divisions, with the naval-colored edges and sides of the deck and the linoleum-colored horizontal surfaces.
The ends of the Type 1 combined mine tracks at the stern are folded down, and their appearance is accurately depicted without omission.
