Tochigi Leather is a leading Japanese tannery, and is produced using a tannin-tanning process in which cowhide is immersed in a tanning tank for approximately one month and colored using only dyes. Recently, it has been rediscovered as a natural material with an eco-friendly sensibility. Various processing methods have been developed to achieve a firm, supple softness and a natural sheen with a textured sheen, resulting in a leather that is significantly different from traditional tanned leather.

The leather is finished by soaking it in oil (oil pull-up leather), which adds suppleness and a deeper texture.

Another distinctive feature is the presence of wrinkles, blood vessels, and scars.
