Fine Molds 1/48 scale Imperial Navy Zero A6M52 Model A (Made by Mitsubishi) Plastic Model FZ03. The Zero A6M52 Model A (commonly known as the Zero Fighter Model 52 Model A) features an increased ammunition capacity for the Zero Fighter Model 52's 20mm machine gun. The original Model 52 featured Type 99 20mm No. 2 Model 3 wing-mounted guns, which held 100 rounds of ammunition per drum (magazine). However, the Model 52A was modified to use belt-fed Type 4 guns, which held 125 rounds. The updated 20mm machine guns were mounted forward, and a trapezoidal cover was added to the base of the gun protrusion on the leading edge of the wing. Additionally, the original Model 52 featured teardrop-shaped bulges under the wing to accommodate the drum magazines, but these bulges were eliminated on the Model 52A due to the belt-fed system. Furthermore, all Mitsubishi Type 52A aircraft were equipped with a short heat-resistant plate, a Mitsubishi characteristic, at the outlet of their thrust-type single exhaust pipes. This product meticulously recreates these differences using new molds. This is the first time the Mitsubishi-made short heat-resistant plate has been fitted to a 1/48-scale Zero fighter plastic model. Markings include decals for the original 343rd and 221st Air Groups. The 343rd Air Group aircraft is currently housed at the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Hamamatsu Public Relations Center. This product requires assembly and painting.
