Reminiscing on the passionate days of Kansas City jazz, Gonzales presents this long-awaited jazz reed. Its flexible response allows for dynamic changes in volume and tone, while its assertive sound is captivating.
Despite the depression of the 1920s and 1930s, Kansas City's entertainment district thrived, attracting many musicians. The most notable players from each band would gather at clubs for jam sessions after their daily gigs. These intense battles, which could be called duels or brawls, brought out the full potential of each musician's musicality and technique, and one song could last for several hours, and many legends have been written about them. It was during the Kansas City jazz era that the saxophone took center stage in jazz.
It gradually came to an end with the end of the 1930s, but the style was later brought to New York by Lester Young, Charlie Parker and others, and had a strong influence on the establishment of the later bebop.
