What should you brush your dog with? Coat care is very important for both long-haired and thick-haired pets, but don't forget about shorter-haired pets. Regular brushing improves blood circulation, positively affects hair growth, making it shiny and healthy, and also reduces the amount of hair that gets stuck on furniture and clothes.
While grooming short-haired dogs and cats doesn't take much time (it's worth brushing your pet once a week) and a brush or comb is sufficient, if you choose a Samoyed, Maltese, Siberian cat, or other longer-haired dog breed, you'll need more accessories. It's worth getting a comb, which allows for painless removal of mats. Particularly during walks, plant fragments and other debris can become entangled in the coat, which can also contribute to knots that are difficult to comb. Omitting a comb may require a very short trim of the entire coat.
You can care for the coat using a currycomb. This has thicker, widely spaced teeth and allows for the removal of leaves, dirt, and dead skin. It also helps find mats, which can be removed with a comb.Silicone gloves and brushes are also available, allowing you to reach hard-to-reach areas (the muzzle, ears, and eye area). Thanks to their special protrusions, they can be used as a massager and a washcloth.
Grooming Sensitive Areas In addition to brushing and removing mats, it's worth taking care of your dog's paws and the area around their muzzle. Trimming the hair with special scissors at the claws and between the pads has many benefits. Excessively long hair causes your dog to slip, mats, and can cause pain. In winter, snow accumulates on the paws, which, in addition to making walking difficult, can also cause frostbite. When caring for the eye area, it's a good idea to trim the eyebrows and facial hair, which will improve your dog's visibility and help prevent potential irritation. Brushing not only improves your dog's appearance but, above all, ensures a comfortable life. A good habit is to brush the coat daily to remove debris and ensure your pet rests well.
