Product Introduction
The C-46 Commando was a masterpiece transport aircraft that appeared during World War II and continued to be used around the world after the war.
Discover its new appeal with this plastic model kit.
Initially developed as a passenger aircraft, the C-46 Commando was adopted by the U.S. Army Air Corps due to its superior basic performance as a transport aircraft.
While it is well-known in Japan due to its long service with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, this kit recreates its original appearance, in the U.S. Army specifications used as a new transport aircraft in World War II.
A distinctive feature of the C-46 is the streamlined fuselage lines that flow directly from the nose.
This aerodynamically sophisticated style is further accentuated by the olive drab paint finish unique to U.S. Army aircraft.
Another notable feature of the C-46 is its powerful 2,000 horsepower engine, unusually powerful for a wartime transport aircraft. The large, four-bladed propeller and engine surroundings are meticulously reproduced.
The streamlined fuselage is realistically modeled down to its unique figure-eight cross-section.
The cockpit is recreated with the seat, control stick, and floorboards.
The decals feature three types of markings from US Army Air Corps aircraft during World War II.
