★ Now available in a digipak from Eternal Grooves!
The final installment of Eternal Grooves' popular series, featuring alternate versions of each Beatles album, is "Sgt. Pepper's," the most innovative complete album in rock history. When a masterpiece is born, all the conditions come together as if chosen by the times. Music, art, and cutting-edge trends intertwine, creating this work like a miracle. Very few unreleased takes from this album remain, outside of those included in the official box set. However, several rough mixes remain from the period between the start of recording "Strawberry Fields Forever" on November 24, 1966, and its completion on April 21, 1967, when the LP was finished with the band's incantation and a high-frequency sound only audible to dogs.
The album begins with a hustle and bustle, showcasing the wild performance of the four musicians without dubbed lead guitar or horns. "Getting Better," which begins with Paul's counting, and "Fixing a Hole" have long endings that showcase Paul's bluesy vocals. "Good Morning, Good Morning" is a hard-hitting rock version featuring a powerful electric guitar drive, completely devoid of horns. John's signature off-beat time signatures are also incorporated, completely transforming your perception of the song. The album's final track, the ever-popular "A Day in the Life," features Paul accidentally blurting out a four-letter word midway through the song, and ends not with a single piano chord but with the original recording of the band humming along. Bonus tracks include two of the album's first singles, "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane." The behind-the-scenes recordings include several basic tracks, as well as clear glimpses of the band's stopped-and-play experimentation on tracks like "Mr. Kite!" and "Lovely Rita."
This collection features alternate versions of the era-defining masterpiece "Sgt. Pepper's," set in the midst of Swinging London. Japanese liner notes with track descriptions and anecdotes appear on the inner jacket. Released on a digipak CD by Eternal Grooves.
