Sharp, earthy and unmistakably pungent, this valerian root essential oil is for people who prefer their aromatherapy honest rather than sweet. Use it in an aroma diffuser for a grounded evening atmosphere, or blend it into a carrier oil for a simple pulse-point ritual.
The scent in the room
The aroma is strong from the first drop, with a deep root-like character rather than a floral or citrus softness.

Its character is distinctive and not universally pleasant, which is part of valerian’s long-standing identity in aromatherapy.

For skin use, dilute a few drops in a suitable carrier oil before massaging into the wrists, temples or soles of the feet. Patch test first. Do not use internally, and seek professional guidance before using essential oils during pregnancy, wi…
