Product Description
The F-4 jet fighter, developed as the U.S. Navy's first all-weather twin-engine carrier-based fighter, was first deployed on carriers in 1961. Following the B model, the Air Force also adapted the electronics and bombing systems to Air Force standards and adopted the aircraft as the F-4C.
Deployed in 1964, the aircraft was stationed in South Vietnam and Thailand from April 1965 on MiG-sweeping missions.
The F-4D boasts updated radar and bombing control systems compared to the C model, improving low-altitude target detection and bombing accuracy. The so-called Vietnam camouflage became the standard paint scheme from the D model onward.
Decals recreate the markings of the aircraft piloted by Colonel Chuck Yeager, commander of the 4th Tactical Fighter Wing (4TFW), and the aircraft that became a Vietnam War MiG shootdown ace during the Vietnam War.
The limited-edition special edition includes a plastic pilot figure (designed and molded by Tamiya).
