She is credited with regulating the level of glucose in the blood and supporting digestion. What else can you take Fenugreek 550 mg with?
Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) belongs to the legume plants and one of the oldest herbs used to support health. The main active ingredient of the plant - i.e. the seeds - has been attributed many beneficial properties for the body for years. Their antidiabetic effect is particularly appreciated. Studies have shown that this plant (also called "God's grass") promotes metabolic immunity by affecting glucose regulation, hyperlipidemia and adipose tissue pathology. Its use has a positive effect on fasting blood sugar and glycated haemoglobin levels, as well as body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, blood pressure and overall quality of life. This makes it a valuable aid in controlling blood glucose levels in people with diabetes[1]. It is also assumed that taking fenugreek modulates glucose homeostasis and prevents diabetes in people with prediabetes without causing side effects[2].
Among the properties of fenugreek (lat. Trigonella foenum-graecum) also supports digestion and improves appetite. It affects the modulation of appetite - during the research, its increase was noticed in people with a normal body weight. In turn, obese people taking fenugreek reduced their fat intake[3].
The effects of this plant on the endocrine system and libido should also be mentioned. Studies have shown that fenugreek seed extract has an effect on total serum testosterone levels and, consequently, on libido and sexual performance[4]. It also has androgenic and anabolic effects in men (which may benefit during resistance training[5]). In turn, in women taking fenugreek extract increases the level of free testosterone and estradiol as well as sexual desire[6].
One of the main components of fenugreek seeds are saponins. They are responsible for hormonal regulation. Among the mostimportant are steroidal saponins: protodioscin, diosgenin and jamogenin[7].
